SHIDOKAN SEMINAR - Content

Title: The theory and methodology of aikido the way Kenji Tomiki intended to teach:
Key contents, details we have been misunderstanding

General comment from Shishida Shihan:
Kenji Tomiki established the basic seventeen techniques as a kata not for Tanto-randori but Toshu-randori.  Toshu-randori was conceived as not only a randori method in aikido but also a new randori method of judo, in other words, a judo in case of the "rikaku-taisei", which means a judo in case of the distance of tegatana-awase. Therefore, the theory and basic techniques of our aikido was conceived from this angle. That is to say, that means we should practice techniques or break balance while avoiding foot techniques of judo practitioners.  I believe the true greatness of Tomiki aikido is on this point.   I will explain the difference between his five atemi-waza and the current way.

Main contents will include both meanings and methodologies of following items

# Tegatana-awase and Shotei-awase

# Six kuzushi with a Tegatana or Roppon-no-kuzushi (The no. seven techniques in case we call Nanahon-no-kuzushi,
i.e., ushiro-ryotedori-no-kuzushi, will be explained from a different viewpoint.)

# Ushiro-ryotedori-no-kuzushi

# Basic seventeen

# A selection of Tomiki's remarks you might not know
